U.S. defense intelligence research
Explore U.S. defense contract awards, agency activity, budget exhibits, program references and market classifications using Bellum Report’s documented research tools. Our analysis distinguishes source-reported facts from Bellum-derived classifications and explicitly identifies important coverage limitations.
Practical research guides
Follow a complete workflow before treating an award record as a financial or business conclusion.
- How to Research U.S. Defense Contract Awards — a seven-step source-first workflow with a worked example.
- Financial Terms and Worked Examples — why obligations, outlays and ceilings differ.
- Contractor Research Workflow — legal identities, agency roles, NAICS and PSC.

Explore the evidence
- Defense Award Explorer — search available award evidence by recipient, agency and classification.
- Defense Companies — investigate recipient identities and associated award records without assuming corporate ownership from a shared name.
- Defense Agencies — distinguish awarding agencies from funding agencies.
- Defense Budget — examine budget evidence in its original fiscal-year context and reported units.
- Defense Programs — inspect programs and documented relationships between budget items and awards.
- Defense Markets — review category-level analysis and the methodology used for groupings.
- Contract Awards — access source-linked award records.
How to interpret the data
An award record is not necessarily a payment. An obligation is a legal commitment of funds; an outlay is a payment. Budget authority and program requests describe different financial stages and should not be added to contract-award totals as if they represented the same measurement. Recipient names do not establish ownership or a verified supply-chain relationship.
Records may be incomplete, revised, duplicated across reporting views or published at different times. Always confirm a result’s time period, source identifier, measurement unit and coverage before comparing amounts.
